Life feels busier than it used to, doesn’t it?
In a world that keeps moving faster, it’s easy to forget to slow down and take it all in.
That reminder came to me during Hangar9’s 40th anniversary this September. For a moment, the noise quieted. I looked around at how far we’ve come and how rooted this business is in connection. When we started, things didn’t move quite so fast. There were no digital touchpoints or emails; we worked with every client one-on-one, building wardrobes and building relationships.
That reflection reminded me of something essential: the power of sisterhood.
My mom built this business from the ground up, and now, forty years later, my sisters and I have the privilege of carrying her legacy forward. I’m lucky to have three sisters, each with her own rhythm, humour, and strength. Together, we’ve learned how to lift each other when life gets heavy and celebrate when it’s light.
I see the same thread in my daughters. Many of you know Emily, but I also have two other incredible girls, Ashley and Hillary, who lean on each other for advice, laughter, and the kind of support that strengthens any close bond. And I see it in all of you, too, my sisters by choice, the women who make Hangar9 what it is today. You remind me that what we do isn’t just about helping women get dressed; it’s about helping each other feel our best.
So this week, I wanted to share a few reflections that lift me up when I need them most, and that I love to pass along to the women around me.
1. A reminder that we’re all different
We each bring something entirely our own to the world, and that’s worth celebrating. In style, we talk about style personalities—dramatic, classic, natural, and beyond—and how understanding yours can transform how you dress and how you see yourself. It’s a reminder that what looks incredible on your best friend might not be for you, and that’s okay. That’s the beauty of individuality.
It’s what makes sisterhood vibrant: each of us standing confidently in our own style and story. Discover your style story here.
2. A little comfort to carry with you
Sometimes support comes in words we say or wrapping ourselves in something that feels like a hug. A scarf passed between friends, a sweater that’s seen one too many girls’ trips, a cashmere wrap that travels as effortlessly as the women who wear it.
It’s the kind of piece that’s lived a full life of shared memories and laughter. Because the best things we own, like the best relationships, become softer, stronger, and more meaningful with time.
So whether it’s a pair of earrings, a beautiful silk pajama set that becomes part of your daily ritual, or the cashmere wrap that travels, these small luxuries become tangible reminders of the threads that connect us.

3. Something to pass along
There’s a certain kind of piece that lives many lives—passed from one woman to another, carrying stories, memories, and moments along the way. Maybe it’s a tailored blazer, a beautiful jacket, an heirloom ring, or a handbag that’s seen more seasons than you can count.
In my case, it’s the one my daughters borrow and somehow never return. You know how it goes—“just for a work trip,” or “I’ll bring it back after the weekend.” But secretly, I love it. Because every time they reach for it, I know they’re reaching for confidence, for comfort, for something that connects them to me. How amazing is that?
The best pieces are meant to be lived in, loved, and shared. They remind us that style is never just about appearance—it’s about inheritance. It’s about giving a little piece of strength, elegance, and self-assurance to the next woman who needs it most.
Here are a few of my favourites, that truly stand the test of time.
