Life at home looks a little different these days. Working from home, quieter weekends, slower mornings — they’ve all become part of our rhythm. And somewhere along the way, I realized it doesn’t take much to make an ordinary day feel meaningful. Especially as the cooler weather settles in, we tend to stay in a little more. That’s okay. It’s what we do with it that matters.
With three daughters and new grandchildren, I never quite know how my day will unfold. Even when I plan to stay home, plans tend to shift. So I’ve learned that a bit of care in how I start the day makes all the difference. Washing my face, slipping into something soft but put-together, and taking five quiet minutes for myself helps make me show up a little stronger. If the day stays slow, I feel comfortable. If it turns busy, I’m already prepared.
Being at home shouldn’t mean letting yourself disappear into the background. It’s about showing up for yourself, even when no one’s watching. When you treat home as your sanctuary, you carry that same calm and confidence with you everywhere else.
Here’s to quiet days that still feel like something, and three things that I'm doing at home that keep me feeling like myself.
Set a Routine
Even if it starts a little later than the mornings when I’m out the door by 8, having a small ritual makes all the difference. Wash your face, add a touch of moisturizer and mascara, and make your coffee. Take a shower, get dressed—really dressed—even if your commute is just down the hall. It’s not about perfection; it’s about presence.
Clothes to Live In
I’m not suggesting you put on a blazer for a day at home, but a little effort in what you wear can completely shift your mindset. Curate a wardrobe that works for the life you actually live: soft cashmere sets, cozy robes, statement slippers. When your clothes are comfortable and considered, you carry yourself differently.
Discover Little Luxuries for a Day at Home
If it's loungewear, add a Little Luxury
On the quieter days, when your calendar (and hair) are taking a break, lean into relaxation—but make it special. Choose a luxury loungewear set or the perfect cashmere sweater to elevate your day, just a little.
My go-tos for these types of styles are from Patrick Assaraf.
This is your reminder that home is your sanctuary.
You deserve to feel as good in it as you do anywhere else.
Here’s to showing up for yourself, even if you're not leaving the house today.
xo, Lisa
