The H9 Family

Jo-Ann Fisher and her 3 daughters Denise MacDonald, Lisa Ferguson & Rachael Fisher-Doak are the dedicated leadership team and family behind Hangar9.

JO-ANN FISHER, FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

In 1983 Jo-Ann opened her first boutique in London, Ontario. Knowing she always had a deep love for fashion, her services soon expanded into personal styling. Over 36 years later, she is known as a leading visionary in the Canadian fashion and retail space, and for pioneering her exclusive wardrobing formula anchored around 9 key essential items. It’s her continued goal to save her clients both time and money, and to make shopping fun again.

DENISE MACDONALD, CFO

When Denise graduated from business school in 1986, she had no intention of joining her Mom’s retail clothing business. It wasn’t until her colleagues started asking her where she got her clothes that Denise considered integrating with her family business. At first, she organized limousine trips from Toronto to the store in London so her corporate colleagues could shop for the day and network with other working women, which after significant interest in the store, led to the opening of the Toronto studio, and eventually the downtown Toronto store.

LISA FERGUSON, CMO & LEAD STYLIST

Lisa knew she wanted to be an integral part of the retail clothing business started by her mom, Jo-Ann Fisher. With strong entrepreneurial instincts and creative thinking, Lisa has forged long-term partnerships and has developed additional verticals within the business to enhance product offerings. With the continued help and support of her Mother, Lisa runs the London store and was instrumental in the recent move and new store construction to north Richmond Row.

RACHAEL FISHER-DOAK, COO & HEAD STYLIST

Rachael opened her first office when she was five years old. It was located in an empty change-room, complete with plastic cash register, and barcode scanner. Her rent was very reasonable since her mother, Jo-Ann Fisher, owned the store. After University, Rachael took over the Toronto Studio where she built her professional clientele exclusively based on referrals and word of mouth, which with its proven success led to the opening of the second location in downtown Toronto.
